Be1 Make1 weekend retreats are held over various weekends each year. This is a great time for men to join other men over a weekend for fellowship, bible study, and discipleship training. “Disciple Making is one maturing believer intentionally leading another maturing believer in the obedience of faith so they can then do the same” The purpose is to equip men to carry out and understand the importance of “The Great Commission” as listed in Matthew 28:18-20 and 2nd Timothy 2:2

Torrey Collins
Torrey Collins lives in Phoenix, AZ with his wife Brittany and their four children. Torrey was baptized as a follower of Jesus in 2014. As a single dad of two young daughters, Torrey’s walk began simply with attending church sporadically with his girls, but he quickly felt the call to more. After meeting his wife Brittany in 2017, they soon found a new church together and began serving in various ministries and leading small groups, but Torrey still felt the Lord calling him to more. He was hired onto their church’s staff in November 2020 to serve on their maintenance team, which quickly lead to him leading that team, searching for more ways to serve in ministry, and leading the church’s men’s ministry. Through attending a retreat in March 2022, Torrey was introduced to the concept of one-on-one discipleship. This introduction to his dear friend Randy drastically changed Torrey’s walk with the Lord. Since then, Torrey has dived deep into discipleship. He was discipled for more than a year by Randy, and has now discipled multiple men himself. Torrey has also been blessed to travel all over the world on missions and lead’s a men’s discipleship weekly Bible study. He continues to feel called to spend more of his time serving the Lord, and is excited to transition away from his secular job into full-time ministry. This calling and the relationships God continues to bring into his life lead him to Daystar, where he is excited to serve as Discipleship Coordinator. His passion lies in helping men prioritize God in their marriages, parenting, and relationships. Through this work, he aims to emphasize the significance of one-on-one discipleship and its life-changing impact.

Don Gordon
In the ministry of SCORE International, Don Gordon helps equip believers with the tools to live a Christ-like life, and reaches those without God with the good news of Jesus Christ through baseball and other venues. His two passions are formally discipling men one-to-one in God’s word and conducting biblical marriage counseling (another form of disciple-making). Both areas have grown in Don’s ministry career. The marriage and disciple-making ministry has included workshops, seminars and conferences from coast to coast primarily in local churches. In addition, Don has the privilege of leading disciple-making, and marriage and family conferences for missionaries and church leaders. In regards to marriage, Don carefully explains God’s passion for marriage and teaches in the context of personal ministry experience with couples and singles. As a result, many have come to a greater love and understanding of Jesus Christ in the context of their marriage and relationships. Don has had the privilege of learning what it means to be broken and suffer for the name of Jesus Christ (Phil. 1:29). He has a great appreciation and understanding of the ministry of the local church.

Scott Taylor
My parents divorced when I was 7, my Mom remarried and moved us to the San Francisco Bay Area where our family attended a Methodist Church when the mood would strike. In 1986 as a Junior in High School, I accepted Jesus as my Savior. Without Discipleship or guidance I spent decades cycling near and distant from the Lord until moving to Arizona from Indonesia in 2013. Here I became part of Randy Hollands Wed. Mens small group and was discipled by Randy Holland for 1.5 years. This is a time in my life where I began to spend quality time with the Lord, both in His Word and in long daily Prayer with him. Outwardly I was experiencing divorce, financial ruin and immense hardship. Yet the Lord had me flourishing with Him and a renewed identity and passion for Him. Through all of that, the Lord grew me and prepared me for what lie ahead. I am thankfully now married to my wife of almost 8 years, Natalie, the most beautiful and Godly woman I’ve ever known. Our 15 year old son Elias loves Jesus as well! Over the past several years God has been giving my wife and I fantastic opportunities for ministry with both couples and individuals. We are so thankful to be put to use for the Kingdom and thankful for the wonderful Church He has brought us to! I love our Lord and am working on allowing Him to make me a more useful implement for His purposes. In addition, I am an avid firearms enthusiast and reloader.
